Vairamuthu’s book released in New Delhi

New Delhi: Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram released poet Vairamuthu’s Tamil book ‘Paarkadal’ at a function held at Delhi Tamil Sangam here on Friday.
The book is a compilation of answers given by Mr. Vairamuthu to various questions as a weekly column in a Tamil magazine. It was earlier released in Chennai by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi during the wedding ceremony of Mr. Vairamuthu’s son.
Mr. Chidambaram gave a glimpse of some of the answers given by Mr. Vairamuthu and said that these answers spoke volumes of the poet’s literary genius.
He said that this book should serve as an inspiration for youngsters that they could achieve anything and everything in their lives undaunted by the problems surmounted by them.
Union Ministers S. Reghupathy and Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan, Special Representative of Tamil Nadu government at Delhi R. Kambam Selvendran, Sangam president M.N. Krishnamani and K.V.K. Perumal joined the Finance Minister in offering felicitations to the poet.
Sangam secretary R. Mukuntham appealed to him to use his “good offices” to request Mr. Karunanidhi to unveil the statue of Tamil poet Tiruvalluvar on Sangam premises.
In his response, Vairamuthu lauded the efforts of the Sangam for its service in promoting art, culture and literature.
He deemed it as a great honour to have his book released in the capital for the benefit of Tamils in Delhi.
He asked the youth to develop reading habit instead of watching television programmes for most of the time. He said every language should adapt itself to the changing era of globalisation.
