AIADMK wins ward by-polls

Nine members elected unopposed

Krishnagiri: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has won the Burgur Town Panchayat Ward 12 in the local body by-elections.

In Burgur, P.G. Venkatesan of AIADMK got 329 votes and R. Elangovan of DMK 250 votes. Burgur Town Panchayat Executive Officer Babulal gave away the certificate to Mr. Venkatesan.

In Pochampally Ward 4, AIADMK-backed independent candidate Tirupathy won the seat with 312 votes defeating Surapandi, a DMK- backed independent candidate. He secured 277 votes.

District Secretary Thennavan and former MP Perumal greeted the winners.

In Burgur Union, Pochampally Panchayat Ward 3, P. Lakshmi and Ward 2, Jagadevi, were elected unopposed.

In Kaveripattinam Panchayat Union, Atthavadi Panchayat Ward 2, Kavundappan and Ward 1, Tirupathy were elected unopposed.

In Kelamangalam Panchayat Union, H. Chettipally Panchayat Ward 1, Ellammal and in Utthankarai Union, Athhipadi Ward 3, Vimala were elected unopposed.

In Krishnagiri Union, Kondepally Panchayat Ward 3, Chandran, Megalachinnampally Panchayat Ward 1, Kathiriappan and Veppanapally Union, Kuppachiparai Ward 1, Ganapathy were elected unopposed.

In Thali Panchayat Union, Marudhanappalli Ward 4 (ST) nobody filed nomination.
