5 more contract workers held

VIZIANAGARAM: With the arrest of five more contract workers of Chorom Pakpond Limited (CP Aqua) at G. Chodavaram in Poosapatirega mandal the number workers held rose to 23. Meanwhile, the Additional I Class Magistrate T. Srinivasa Rao here rejected their bail petition on Friday and remanded them to custody up to September 30. Ch. Papa Rao, Bhogapuram CI, when contacted on Saturday, said that the decision was taken keeping in view the tense situation at the factory premises. Condemning the police action on wage earners, sarpanch of Challavanipeta P. Appala Naidu (TDP) and others extended support to the striking workers and staged a dharna at Poosapatirega tehsildar’s office in the morning.
