“Rs. 300 crore allotted for construction of courts”

TIRUVARUR: State Government was committed to improving infrastructure for judiciary and 155 new courts have been built in Tamil Nadu this year said Durai Murugan, Minister for law and PWD, at Tiruvarur on Saturday.

Speaking at the inauguration of District and Sessions Court and Judicial Magistrate court buildings at Tiruvarur, the minister said that the State Government has allotted a fund of Rs. 300 crore for construction of courts.

It has also been decided that judicial officers should reside in quarters and they were built everywhere.

“Do not strike”

The minister said that advocates should not strike work as their profession is a respectable one.

He appealed to judges to clear the pending cases. Lifting the ban on postings, the State Government has appointed new judges.

Benefits to Tiruvarur

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi was instrumental in renovating the car of the Thyagarajaswamy temple at Tiruvarur and running it.He has also brought in various educational benefits like Medical College, Central University, etc., to Tiruvarur. A. K. Ganguly, Chief Justice of Madras High court said that Manuneedhi cholan rendered justice to a cow at Tiruvarur.

U. Mathivanan, Dairy development minister unveiled the portrait of Thiruvalluvar. Kulasekaran, High Court judge unveiled the portrait of Gandhi while Ravi Raja Pandiyan, High Court judge unveiled the portrait of Manuneedhi cholan.
