The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute and the Coimbatore Wet Grinder and Accessories Manufacturers Association organised a programme here for wet grinder manufacturers on new motor design.

The new motor, which is energy efficient, has been developed by a Chennai-based organisation under the cluster development programme.

Based on the suggestions of the industry, the design would be finalised.

A meeting presided over by Industries Commissioner, G. Santhanam, recently disposed of 10 claims petitions by Small and Micro Enterprises with regard to the outstanding bills from government Departments and Public Sector Undertakings.

In the event of the government Departments and Public Sector Undertakings that had procured materials from Small and Micro Enterprises failing to settle the bills to the units within the specified timeframe and in the event of the dispute prolonging, these claims can be referred to the Small and Micro Industries Facilitation Tribunal. A total of 152 claims have already been disposed of by the tribunal enabling payment of Rs 284.92 lakhs.
