Delhi police team makes enquiries

Staff Correspondent

Udupi: A five-member team of the Delhi police along with a person came to Manipal supposedly in connection with the Delhi bomb blasts case, on Sunday night. However, Inspector-General of Police (Western Range) A.M. Prasad and Superintendent of Police Pravin Pawar were tight-lipped on the intent of the visit. The team along with the person left Manipal for Delhi on Monday.

Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Pawar said some local persons were questioned by the Delhi police in Manipal. “But no arrests have been made. We have just given logistic support to the Delhi police,” he said.

In reply to a question, Mr. Pawar said no raids had been made on hotels in Manipal. The police had only checked the Mangala Express at Udupi Railway Station. He said that the person brought by the Delhi police team had no connection with Manipal University. “No person from Manipal University has been questioned,” he said.

Asked about the identity of the person brought by the Delhi police team, Mr. Pawar said he could not say anything on it because “the matter is under investigation.”
