CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch police arrested a youth on charges of cheating a woman of 131 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs. 15 lakh here on Monday.

Police said L. Venkat alias Venkateswarlu (26) of Adayar had taken the jewels and money in several instalments from Ranjani alias Anjali (24) of K.K. Nagar for making an investment in Singapore. However, he neither made the investment nor returned the money.
