RPF plans welfare programmes for Raising Day fete

Self-employment training is organised for wives and wards of RPF personnel

TIRUCHI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has planned to conduct welfare programmes over the next few days here as part of its Raising Day celebrations.

The programme kick-started on Monday with a self-employment training organised exclusively for the wives and wards of RPF personnel serving in Tiruchi Division.

Vocational trainers from two schools for the mentally challenged in the city explained about the avenues available for the wives of RPF personnel to engage in self-employment activity. They organised practical demonstrations in some vocational trades the participants could embark upon such as artificial jewellery making, garland making, envelope and phenyl making.

Around 60 women took part in the self-employment training which was inaugurated by the Senior Divisional Finance Manager, Tiruchi Railway Division Malathi in the presence of the Divisional Security Commissioner, RPF, Tiruchi S.R. Gandhi. Mr. Gandhi said a ceremonial parade by the RPF personnel and officers would be held on September 23 at the Kallukuzhi railway ground here during which the Divisional Railway Manager S. Subramhanyan would take the salute and address the personnel.

Pensioners adalat

A pensioners adalat would be held on Tuesday at the office of the Divisional Railway Manager here, as part of the celebrations, exclusively for the retired RPF personnel to hear their grievances and and redress them. Mr. Gandhi said the RPF would organise a blood donation camp at the Railway Hospital, Ponmalai on September 24 in which the RPF personnel would donate blood. The events conclude on September 26 with a personality development programme for the wards of RPF personnel. Faculty members from two educational institutions would address the participants.
