Nirmala College advances

Coimbatore: Nirmala College for Women and Dr. NGP College of Arts and Science scored comfortable wins and advanced into the third round of the Bharathiar University inter-Collegiate ball badminton tournament for women here on Tuesday.

Nirmala thrashed NGM College (Pollachi) 29-7, 29-1 and Dr. NGP fashioned a 29-2, 29-10 win over Maharaja College.

The results: Round two: KM College (Muthur) bt STC (Pollachi) 29-19, 29-25; Dr. NGP bt Maharaja 29-2, 29-10, Nirmala bt NGM 29-7, 29-1.Round one: Bharathiar University bt SNS CAS 29-8, 29-6; NGM (Pollachi) bt Michael Job 29-14, 29-14; RVS College (Sulur) bt Rathinam CAS (Eachnari) 29-14, 29-28; Dr. NGP bt Vidyasagar CAS (Udumalpet) 29-26, 28-29, 29-9; Nirmala bt Kovai Kalaimagal (Narasipuram) 29-1, 29-0.

Volleyball tournaments

Lotus Volleyball Club, in association with St. Joseph’s Engineering College (Chennai), will conduct a State-level volleyball tournament for women and a district-level tournament for men at the Government HSS, Chinnathadagam grounds, from September 26 to 28.

Balaji scalps five

R. Balaji scalped five for 21 in Kaleeswara Cricket Club’s 95-run win over Lucky Young Star Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-CDCA third division league at the SNR Sons College grounds recently.

Ball badminton tournament

The Anna University Zone-7 ball badminton tournament for men, organised by the Tamil Nadu College of Engineering, will be held at its campus on September 25 and 26.
