VISAKHAPATNAM: Thanks to M. Suresh’s four for 23, South Zone worked itself into an advantageous position against North Zone in the round-robin match of the ACA seniors’ inter-zone (Ranji selection) tournament for the Venkatagiri Cup at Port stadium here on Tuesday. A.S.K. Varma (47, 5x4, 2x6) and M. Krishna Murthy (41, 5x4) added 82 runs for the second wicket but the host was struggling at 140 for six at stumps on the second day, in reply to South’s first innings total of 294 for eight. The scores: South Zone 294 for eight in 90 overs (L.N. Prasada Reddy 65, Prasad Babu 65, D. Siva Kumar four for 47) vs. North Zone 140 for six in 62 overs (A.S.K. Varma 47, M. Krishna Murthy 41, M.
