‘Advisories aimed at destabilising Government’

Bangalore: The former Union Minister and spokesperson of the State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party V. Dhananjay Kumar has called upon President Pratibha Patil to take note of the Union Government’s actions in attempting to scare and demoralise the BJP Government in Karnataka.

He said here on Wednesday that the Centre’s move to send two advisories to the BJP Government in the State and follow it up with a spot visit by some officials of the Union Home Ministry in the aftermath of the attacks on churches in some of the districts of the State was “nothing more than a sinister and calculated attempt aimed at tarnishing the image of the Yeddyurappa Government in the State.”

Never before had a Union Government team on a spot visit given out its mind to the media ahead of submitting a report to the Government, he said.

Mr. Kumar said the fact of the Centre’s deputation of the Home Ministry official team “tantamount to the strange position of bureaucrats sitting in judgment over an elected Government.” He said the Centre’s advisory on the attacks on churches has worked as a destabilising instrument for the benefit of the Opposition parties to orchestrate their demand for the imposition of President’s Rule. “
