FBI probes finance giants for fraud

WASHINGTON: The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating four major U.S. financial institutions — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers Holdings and insurer American International Group — whose collapse helped trigger a $700-billion bailout plan by the Bush administration.
