Tax evasion detected

Thiruvananthapuram: The Commercial Taxes Department detected unaccounted sales worth Rs.626.15 lakh during inspections conducted by it in 33 shops selling electrical goods across the State on Tuesday. The tax amount involved is Rs.58.31 lakh. It also imposed a fine of Rs.116.62 lakh. The department also detected unaccounted sales to the tune of Rs.8137.85 lakh during inspections held in the shops of 252 dealers coming under nine categories. The tax involved is Rs.980.73 lakh and a fine of Rs.2,019.22 lakh was imposed. — Special Correspondent
