Muslims going through difficult times: Kanimozhi

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The best way to root out terrorism was to trace and address the conditions that led to bomb blasts rather than discussing the issue after terror strikes, said DMK MP Kanimozhi on Wednesday.

Participating in an Iftar party organised by the women wing of the Indian Union Muslim League, Ms. Kanimozhi said a religion was being subjected to criticism just because a person belonged to that religion had indulged in bomb blasts.

“The anger against the terrorists turned towards their community. The Muslims in the country are going through difficult times. We will be with them. My participation in this function confirms our commitment,” she said.

Ms. Kanimozhi said love among people alone would remove the hatred and lead to amity.

Stating that the 3.5 per cent separate reservation would go a long way in benefiting the Muslims, she also stressed the need for educating women. Women’s Wing organiser A.S. Fathima Muzaffer spoke.
