Misuse detected: Officials of the District Supply Office and Indian Oil Corporation seized domestic cylinders that were to be illegally used for commercial purposes. —

BHAVANI: Indian Oil Corporation officials along with district authorities unearthed an unauthorised gas refilling station near here on Thursday.

According to sources, the Corporation received a tip off that at a shop at Oyyangadu in Kalingarayanpalayam, gas from LPG cylinders meant for domestic use was being filled in vehicles.

The IOC officials alerted the District Supply Office officials who instructed the taluk supply officials to inspect the place. The latter with assistance from the Food Cell police did so and found the tip off to be true.

Owner of the unauthorised facility S. Jagannathan (26), managed to escape.

Officials seized about half-a-dozen cylinders and the kit used for transferring the gas.

Police have registered a case in this connection.
