Rs.8.85 crore for road works

NEW DELHI: Union Shipping and Highways Minister T.R. Baalu has sanctioned Rs.8.85 crore for road improvement works on various stretches of the Katpadi-Vallimalai Road in Vellore district. The works include improvement of riding quality on the existing two-lane pavement for 11.2 km from Katpadi to Thathireddypalli, and widening of road at Soudanathangal village to facilitate two-lane traffic.

The Katpadi-Vallimalai Road links major Katpadi railway junction with pilgrim centre Vallimalai and also connects other pilgrim centres such as Ponnai Vinayagapuram, Thenkal Ashramam and Thiruthani Murugan temple. — Special Correspondent
