Teachers urge panel to submit report

CHENNAI: The Association of University Teachers (AUT) has urged the University Grants Commission Pay Review Committee to expedite the submission of its report. More than 12 months have passed since the Professor G. K. Chadda Committee was constituted to review teachers’ salaries.

Teachers across the State held protests in front of their respective colleges on Wednesday, demanding that the report be submitted by October 5, according to an AUT release. It welcomed the government’s proposal to create a common recruitment system for university teachers. — Staff Reporter
