PDS rice seized

PUDUKOTTAI: In a surprise raid on a modern rice mill at Keeranur near here, the Revenue officials seized 104 bags of ration rice valued at Rs.70,000.

Vital tip-off

The seizure was effected, following a vital tip-off about the hoarding of rice meant for public distribution, at the mills, the District Supply Officer, Kalaiselvi Mohan said. She said that special arrangements have been made to check the hoarding of ration rice.

Members of the public could inform the officials of the clues about hoarding by dialling 94450-00311. The details of those furnishing the information would be kept confidential. The Personal Assistant to the District Supply Officer, B. Veerapandian; the Taluk Supply Officer S. Rajendran were among those who conducted the raid.
