PUDUKOTTAI: The Fast Track Court here, on Thursday, convicted and sentenced a youth to life imprisonment in a case of murder. According to the prosecution, M. Ramesh (33) of Pudukottai town, murdered P. Pazhanisamy (38), who was running an IMFL shop here. Ramesh had demanded some liquor without tendering cash. Irked by Pazhanisamy’s refusal, Ramesh stabbed him to death. Ramesh also caused stab injuries to another person, Senthilkumar and threatened him to murder him. The incident happened in the night of January 17, 2008. The Town Station police registered a case under IPC Sec. 302 (murder); Sec.324 (causing injury) and Sec. 506 (2) (Threatening to murder). The Judge of the Fast Track Court, P. Ayyasamy, who found Ramesh guilty under these sections, sentenced him to life imprisonment and ordered a fine Rs.5,000 in default to undergo imprisonment for six months. The Judge sentenced the youth to one year imprisonment under the other sections, all to run concurrently.
