Vanzara bail plea rejected in Sohrabuddin case

Special Correspondent

AHMEDABAD:The Gujarat High Court has rejected the bail applications of nine police personnel, including the suspended deputy inspector general of police, D. G. Vanzara, held in connection with the alleged Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.

Justice M. R. Shah rejected the bail applications of all the nine, including another IPS officer, Rajkumar Pandian, and several of the deputy superintendent level police officers. The Judge found the same grounds valid for these nine officials on which the bail applications of two other police officers, N. K. Amin and the Rajasthan cadre IPS officer, M. N. Dinesh Kumar, were rejected by Justice A. S. Dave earlier. The court felt that there was high probability of their tampering with evidences if they were released on bail considering the high positions and the influence they held in the police department.
