HYDERABAD: The offices of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) proposed at the zonal-level for better accessibility to citizens are likely to take some more time to be in place. The process of identifying proper buildings to house them is to be taken up and those in the extended jurisdiction will have to wait for some more time for easy access to various needs related to the authority. Same is the situation with the proposed service centres, 10 of which are to be set up at Chevella, Sangareddy, Narsapur, Shamirpet, Keesara, Bhuvanagiri, Ibrahimpatnam, Pochampally, Maheshwaram and Kothur. Few locations have been identified and a committee will be visiting soon to inspect the buildings and finalise them, according to an official. Five zonal officesOf the five zonal offices planned for wider reach of the HMDA, four are to be located at Kokapet, Kompally, Ghatkesar and Shamshabad. While a decision on the fifth zonal office is yet to be taken, it could be Sahebnagar, the official said. These offices will have the departments of planning, engineering, environment, administration and coordination, accounts and estate. The expanded jurisdiction of the constituent areas for the HMDA include 16 mandals of Hyderabad, 10 of Medak district, 22 of Ranga Reddy district, two of Mahabubnagar and four mandals of Nalgonda district. At MadhapurMeanwhile, the HMDA office at Madhapur could take another two years to be a reality. A tentative estimate of Rs.50 crore has been made for the complex to come up near National Academy of Construction. The requirement of office area and facilities needed have been worked out and a conceptual design will be prepared in two to three weeks, said HMDA Chief Engineer Vivek Deshmukh. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
