Canara Bank runs riot

BANGALORE: Local challenger Canara Bank posted a 6-2 win against qualifier Pioneer Corps Training Centre (PCTC) to get off to a splendid start in the second phase of the State Super Division hockey league, which commenced at the SAI South Centre here from Saturday.

In an earlier match, Army Red began its quest with a thumping 5-1 rout of ASC.

The results: Canara Bank 6 (Varun Chinappa (8th, 62nd), Sameer Baxla (27th), Sunil Benjamin (29th) and Somanna (31st, 49th)) bt PCTC 2 (S. Mundu 35th, N. Manju 69th)).

Army Red 5 (Elizer Lakra (33rd), Ignus Tirkey (46th), S.V. Sunil (53rd, 67th), Rajesh Lakra (63rd)) bt ASC 1 (Deepu 31st).
