Staff Reporter

He calls for safe disposal of biomedical waste

Kakinada: Union Minister of State for Defence and Kakinada MP M.M. Pallam Raju has suggested to the Hospital Development Society (HDS) of Government General Hospital here to hire a private consultancy which can lend its expertise in preparing an action plan aimed at rendering better services to the people.

He also called for safe disposal of biomedical waste generated by both the GGH and private hospitals in Kakinada.

Addressing the HDS meeting, Mr. Pallam Raju said the ad hoc measures being taken for the hospital development were not serving the purpose and advised the HDS to improve the facilities with the help of a consulting firm.

He instructed Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi to take necessary steps and ensure that the proposals take shape after the next HDS meeting to be held in December.

The Collector ordered the municipal authorities to take up a project for disposal of biomedical waste on BOT basis so that the people would be saved of the hazards associated with hospital wastes. He said the plea of outsourced staff to increase their salaries would be sent to the government as the GGH has limited resources and the HDS was not empowered to take a decision in this regard. He sought appropriate steps to be taken to fulfill the GGH needs in a month.

Sampara MLA A Bullabbai Reddy, HDS members Y.D Rama Rao and N Radha, District Medical and Health Officer D Vijay Kumar, Indian Red Cross Society district secretary P Durga Raju and others took part in the deliberations.
