Two Sanghi brothers seek ‘fair’ settlement deal

‘Elder siblings want 25 per cent share for each of the brothers’

HYDERABAD: Anand and Sudhir, the elder of the four warring Sanghi brothers who have huge business empire at Sanghinagar on the city outskirts, have expressed their willingness to quit the family business on the condition of a fair settlement of the property.

At a press conference here on Sunday in the backdrop of the clashes between Sudhir and his kin on one side and Ravi and Girish Sanghi on the other the previous day, Mr. Anand and Mr. Sudhir left the settlement of the property to an arbitrator appointed by their younger brothers.

They also expressed willingness to take their stakes in cash and leave the businesses to Ravi and Girish if that was the motive behind the attack on Mr. Sudhir, his son Sidharth and their security guards on Saturday. “We will sign all documents and leave with cash right today but the settlement has to be nothing short of 25 per cent share for each of the four brothers,” Mr. Sudhir remarked.

Threats

He observed that Ravi and Girish indeed wanted to ensure that their elder brothers quit the businesses with cash. But, the attacks were prompted to threaten them to accept a mere five to ten per cent share, he alleged. Ravi and Girish had already “instigated” half-a-dozen attacks against them in the past three months when the relations among the brothers soured and they were divided into two groups. The police took no action on the complaints, so much so a representation to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy following the previous incident also went in vain.

Filmy scene

Recalling Saturday’s incident, Mr. Sudhir likened it to a scene straight out of a violent film. The attackers unleashed terror against him, his son and their security staff with sticks and rods. The attack was carried out to pre-empt an amicable settlement which was being attempted by family elders.
