Adobe to roll out licensing programme

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Adobe Systems, which creates such software products as Photoshop and Flash, will start a student licensing programme next year. Under it, students can buy a legal copy of the software to avoid using pirated versions, according to Sandeep Mehrotra, Sales Director, Adobe Systems, India.

He was speaking at the launch of Adobe’s Creative Suite 4 (CS4) Product Family here on Friday.

A different pricing structure for commercial and educational customers is available, Mr. Mehrotra said. Variations of the licensing programme, such as site-licensing under which licences will be given for home use of teachers, will be provided to educational institutions.

As for the CS4, Mr. Mehrotra said an explosion of connected devices drove the need for having a product that could help to create content across different media. Furthermore, the need for multiple teams to interact together was a challenge that the CS4 addressed. He cited the example of ‘ShareMyScreen,’ a service that helps to share the screen you are working on with three other users online to get their inputs.

Additional features included support for 3D modelling and painting in Photoshop, said Mr. Mehrotra. The CS4 will be rolled out in October.
