Sameera and Murali triumph

KOCHI: Delhi’s B. Murali and Andhra Pradesh’s Sameera Begum won the men’s and women’s singles titles in the senior National tennikoit championship at the Regional Sports Centre here on Sunday.

The results (finals):

Men’s singles: B. Murali (Del) bt G. Narayana Surya (TN) 21-14, 21-18. Doubles: Durga Prasad / A. Venkateswara Rao (AP) bt Jay A. Bawane / Mrinal Bande Bouche (Mah) 21-4, 21-11.

Women’s singles: Sameera Beegum (AP) bt Rema Devi (AP) 22-21, 21-14. Doubles: D. Apeksha / B.S. Anitha (Kar) bt Padiya Choudhary / Sharmila Paik (WB) 21-7, 21-22, 21-19.
