Students on a winning spree

PUDUCHERRY: Students of Blessed Mother Teresa Model Higher Secondary School won several prizes in competitions held by the Town Official Language Implementation Committee, Puducherry and convened by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research.

In the poetry recitation competition, Priya Sharma of Standard VIII won the second prize, while Suman Sharma of Class XI won the third prize in the elocution competition. Karuna Sharma of Class X and Suman Sharma of Class XI bagged the third prize in quiz competition.

The school students secured the consolation prize in variety programme. Student of Class XI Raj Kumar Ray won the first prize in story writing and Anitha Sharma of Class X got the third prize. In the essay competition, Anjali Jain of Class IX won the first prize. Two students of the school won distinctions in the swimming competition conducted by Puducherry Swimmers Welfare Association. Rukshana of Class V won the State-level sub-junior first prize in butterfly and backstroke events, while Sharath Kumar of Class XII won the State-level senior third prize in 50 metre backstroke event.

In the oratorical competitions held in connection with Perarignar Anna Centenary celebrations, Harish of Class XII won the third prize in the district-level recitation contest and a consolation prize in elocution competition. The award carried a cash award of Rs.3,000, certificates and books.
