VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has inducted 175 Management Trainees in various disciplines for the year 2008. The induction and orientation programme was inaugurated on Monday at the Training Centre. There were 142 candidates taken from among fresh graduates and 33 candidates were from departments of the plant in a rigorous selection process of written test and interview. There are 15 women of whom 12 are in technical disciplines and three in Human Resource Management. Chairman of RINL P.K. Bishnoi extended them a hearty welcome and complimented them. Director (Operations and Projects I/C) P.K. Mishra, Director (Personnel) Y. Manohar and Chief Vigilance Officer K. Vidyasagar, IAS, spoke. DCI turnoverThe State-owned Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) has recorded a turnover of Rs.771.47 crores during 2007-08 compared to previous year’s Rs. 626.21 crores. The company earned a net profit after tax of Rs.154.82 crores against least year’s Rs.188.73 crores. These figures came up for review at the annual general meeting held in Delhi on Monday, a company release issued here said. DCI’s turnover includes operational income of Rs.705.32 crores against previous year’s Rs.572.89 crores. The other income consists of mainly interest on fixed deposits. The profit before tax was Rs.150.77 crores (Rs.206.39 crores for previous year). DCI’s earnings per share for 2007-08 were Rs.55.29 compared to Rs.67.40 for previous year. The company declared a record dividend of 150 per cent for third time on a paid up share capital (including interim dividend of 75 per cent paid in March, 2008) involving an amount of Rs.42 crores for 2007-08. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
