‘Centre not sharing information on terrorists’

BANGALORE: Home Minister V.S. Acharya has accused the Union Government of not sharing information with regard to terrorists in and outside the State.

Addressing presspersons hereon Tuesday, he said that police patrolling had been stepped up in all the districts and cities after the blasts in Bangalore on July 25. The State would be able to check the activities of the terrorists only with the cooperation of the Central Intelligence authorities.

The Centre’s cooperation with the State Government with regard to tackling of terrorism was not up to the mark, he said. The law and order situation had improved and crime rate in Bangalore had declined in recent days. No incident of church attack had been reported since September 15. A church at Mariyannapalaya in Bangalore was attacked following differences between Kannada Christians and Malayali Christians.

No major damages had been done to Roman Catholic churches in the State. Only a few centres of New Life Trust had been attacked, he said.

The Minister termed the visit of the Central team as “over-reaction.” The situation was totally normal in coastal and other districts of the State, he said.
