CHENNAI: The city police have taken into custody a native of West Bengal in connection with the theft from a hundi of the Mylapore Kapaleeswarar Temple on April 16 this year. The police had sent fingerprints lifted from the scene to other State Crime Record Bureaux. Following a tip-off from the Kolkata police that the fingerprints tallied with that of an accused in a theft case there, a special team went to West Bengal and took custody of the suspect. “We have picked him up on suspicion. The arrest will be subject to further interrogation and verification of fingerprint evidence,” Commissioner of Police R. Sekar said. — Special Correspondent © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
