CHENNAI: A Fast Track Court in Chengalpet sentenced M. Ramesh alias Ramesh Babu (39) of Adambakkam to life imprisonment on Tuesday for murdering a church employee on St. Thomas Mount here in 2006. According to the prosecution, Ramesh, who claimed to be an avatar of Kalki Bhagwan, had asked Jacob Fernando (60), a book-seller, to vacate the premises as the mount premises “belonged” to him. This led to a wordy duel and he stabbed Jacob, killing him on the spot. First FTC Judge Rajagopal also imposed a fine of Rs.10,000. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
