Liquor bottles seized from autorickshaw

Kochi: The city police on Tuesday seized 60 bottles of Indian made foreign liquor from an autorickshaw on M.G. Road. Rajesh of Kummattipadam Veedu, SRM Road and Rajesh from Thanneermukkam in Cherthalai were arrested in connection with the seizure.

The police said they were planning to blackmarket it on Gandhi Jayanthi day.

Balachandran, 40 years, resident of Undichalparambu Veedu, Ayyappan Kavu, was arrested in a case of dowry harassment.

His wife had ended her life by hanging on September 23 following which her relatives filed a complaint of dowry harassment with police. Krishnakumar, 38, son of Kumaran, Vellaparambil House, Pallimukku, died at the Ernakulam Medical Trust hospital after he attempted suicide by hanging.

In another incident, Jibin Jose, 23, of Kumakara Village, near Nedumbassery, died at the Ernakulam Medical Trust hospital on Tuesday evening.

He was admitted there in the morning after police found him in a seriously injured condition near the railway line at Avanamkode.
