Residents of Pattalam complained of contamination of drinking water

Chennai: The Communicable Diseases Hospital at Tondiarpet has received several fresh cases of acute diarrhoeal disease.

Residents of Pattalam near Perambur complained of contamination of drinking water with sewage. Acute diarrhoeal diseases are caused when contaminated water or food is consumed. Mayor M. Subramanian said he would direct the Chennai Metrowater officials to inspect the area and prevent contamination of water.

“No cholera cases”

Corporation health officials said there were no cases of cholera in the city.

However, people have been cautioned to drink boiled water as diarrhoeal diseases spread during the rainy season.
