109 college students donate blood

VELLORE: A total of 109 students of the Department of Computer Science and Applications (DCSA) of Voorhees College, Vellore, including five women, donated blood, at a camp organised by the department as part of the Post-Centenary Decennium (110th anniversary) celebration of the college on its premises here on Wednesday.

The blood was donated to the blood bank of Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore.

Speaking at the inaugural function, V. Sekar, Deputy General Manager of Lakshmi Vilas Bank, Karur, who is also an alumnus of the college, urged the students to develop their communication skill to succeed in their career. Even if a student secured 100 per cent in his examinations, that would take him nowhere unless he had the requisite communication skill to articulate his views clearly in the course of his official dealings. The students should form a network among themselves to get things done with the help of friends. Mr. Sekar said it was unfortunate that people did not plan their life properly. Such planning was essential for anyone to succeed in his life, he said.
