29,000 packets of spices ready for distribution

KRISHNAGIRI: A total of 29,000 packets of spices are ready for distribution through public distribution system outlets in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts. The scheme will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister in Chennai on October 2. The scheme will be inaugurated in Krishnagiri by Highways Minister Vellakoil Swaminathan at Utthankarai Boys Higher Secondary School on Friday.

In Dharmapuri district, Union Minister Venkatapathy will inaugurate the scheme at a fair price shop in Pennagaram taluk on Friday. Ten types of condiments and spices including chilli powder, turmeric, coriander powder, Bengal gram, fenugreek and pepper will be sold through fair price shops at a price of Rs. 50 to the card holders in the two districts.

The packets were sealed at Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) godowns. In Krishnagiri till Wednesday, 20,000 packets were prepared and moved to fair price shops in five taluks. And in Dharmapuri, 9,000 packets were readied and moved to fair price shops in five taluks, top Civil Supplies Department officials said.
