Special Maha Navaratri pooja begins

TIRUVARUR: The annual Sri Sarada Maha Navaratri special homams and poojas began on Tuesday at Sengalipuram village in Tiruvarur district for the general prosperity of the people and is being performed till Oct.9 by eminent vedic scholars led by Sri A. Advarapathy Dikshithar, Agnihotri and Manthramoorthy of Sengalipuram, hailing from the family of late Sengalipuram Anantharama Dikshithar, vedic scholar and exponent in religious discourse.

Sri Advarapathy Dikshithar, on Wednesday that the nine-day Navaratri poojas commenced on Tuesday with the performance of Haridra Ganapathy homam. Several homams and religious functions including Sri Maha Ganapathy homam, Sri Surya Namaskara Parayanam, Sri Devi Mahatmiya Parayanam, Sri Sundarakanda Paarayanam and Nava Suvasini pooja will be performed every day during the Navaratri festival days. He said that on the Vijayadasami day (Thursday, Oct.9), special Haridra Ganapathy homam and free annadanam will be provided to the devotees.
