VIZIANAGARAM: The Rotary Club (R.I. Dist. 3020) has introduced new generation achievement awards. It would be given to five youths within the R.I. District who showed exemplary merit in education, sports and games, cultural events and literature, said M.V. Prasad, Rotary District Governor. The award carries cash prize and scholarships, he said at a press conference here on Thursday. Detailing the programmes the R.I. district planned this year, Mr. Prasad said that stress was being given on child health care. As part of it, the club planned to examine eyes of one lakh children and give them free medicines, vitamins and spectacles, if necessary, as, according to a survey, the drop out rate in schools was due to improper vision, he said. Under the ‘Gift of Life” programme, 50 children (below 12 years of age), with heart diseases would be treated this year. Earlier, Mr. Prasad visited the two adopted municipal schools at Cantonment and Ganjipet and distributed uniforms to 200 children. Harishbabu and S. Tirupathi Rao; Spot painting competitions in three categories: G. Goutami, S. Aditya Sudhakar and D. Shan Mukesh; Memory contest in three cateogries: B. Bhargav Sarath, K.
