‘Steps being taken to overcome power crisis’

CHIKMAGALUR: K.S. Eshwarappa, Minister for Energy, said here on Thursday that steps were being taken to overcome the power crisis in the State.

Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Eshwarappa reiterated that there was no confusion on loadshedding. Contradictory statements had been made due to the uncertainty of the weather, he explained.

The Minister said a special Inspector-General of Police had been appointed to prevent power theft. The official had commenced work and several cases had been registered against those indulging in power theft.

Mr. Eshwarappa said the district administration had granted 400 acres of land for the 4,000 MW power generating station in Bijapur and the process for start work was on. He expressed confidence that work on the 4,000 MW power generating station at Tadadi in Uttara Kannada district would commence soon.
