Three units become operational Focus will be on telecom power supply NEW DELHI: Upbeat about India and its vast potential in the new global order, the $4.8 billion Delta Group of the U.S. is eyeing to make it as a manufacturing base for its future power technology products that would emphasise on energy efficiency. With three manufacturing units, including a ‘green factory’ at Rudrapur in Uttarakhand having become operational, Delta is optimistic about making it big. It has a major presence in the supply of green power products and digital solutions to the telecom industry and is now looking to expand its presence. Delta Electronic, Taiwan, Power System Business Group CTO, Milan Jovanovic, on his visit to India says power efficiency is a major differentiator for businesses worldwide. “Today, it is important for companies to gain competitive advantage for their customers, control operational costs, especially the energy bills, and to control carbon emissions as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative,” he added. Mr. Jovanovic said by emphasising energy-efficient power supply design, Delta was addressing a key factor that could help reduce overall power requirements and contribute to lower total cost of ownership. A high profile research team is working on future power supply topologies. The company estimates a turnover of around $180 million during 2008 and plans to almost double it to $320 million during 2009. The focus in India would be on telecom power supply, uninterrupted power system, visual display, industrial automation, components, renewable energy and automotive electronics. “We have set a goal to become a $30 billion group by the year 2015 and India will be an important growth platform and a contributor to this goal in the future,” he said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
