Melbourne: Harbhajan Singh’s reported bid to play for Victoria or Western Australia in the inaugural Twenty20 Champions League has not materialised after Cricket Australia said the competition rules does not permit the Indian offie to represent the Australian domestic sides. What went against Harbhajan was that he had not played for either side during last summer’s Australian domestic Twenty20 competition, when the Bushrangers and Warriors qualified for the tournament in India. “It’s an interesting prospect when you think about it because he is a champion player, but it’s my understanding from the management here that he would not be eligible,” a CA spokesman was quoted as saying by Australian Associated Press. — PTI © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
