Staff Reporter

Kochi: The 111th annual session of the Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) was held at Mattancherry.

Inaugurating the session, Minister for Forest and Housing Benoy Viswom said that the labour force was now conscious of the need for increasing productivity. He claimed that the number of man-days lost in the State because of labour strikes was low when compared to other States.

“Labour is an integral part of development. However, lightning strikes and hartals for all and sundry should be avoided. The issue is to be subjected to an open discussion,” he said.

The K R Mehta Memorial Prizes, ICCI Education Awards and ICCI Export Awards were distributed at the function.

C.M. Dinesh Mani, MLA, offered felicitations. R. Mohandas, ICCI president, welcomed the gathering and Anilkumar N. Prabhu, vice-president, proposed a vote of thanks.
