VISAKHAPATNAM: The Hindu-Eenadu Lifestyle Show seems to have caught the imagination of the Vizagites. The five-day mega shopping show, said to be the biggest in south India, commenced here on Thursday at the Andhra University Engineering College Grounds amidst much enthusiasm and fanfare. The shopping carnival set inside a sprawling centrally air-conditioned canopy, spread over 40,000 square feet, houses over 120 stalls and showcases a wide range of products from electronic goods to home appliances and from furnishing to textiles.

It is a one-stop shopping experience.

The stalls displaying electronic products appear to be in demand. Samsung, the presenting partner of the show, has displayed most of its products.

They include ultra slim television sets, flat vision TVs, LCDs, the latest models of bio-fresh refrigerators, models of side-by-side technology refrigerators, different models of split and window air-conditioners, semi and fully automatic washing machines, microwave ovens, mobile phones and digital cameras. The representative of Samsung electronics says that a few models that are yet to hit the market have been showcased at the show.

Moserbaer, a name synonymous with optical media like CDs, has displayed six models of DVDs and LCDs for the first time at the show.

Another attraction is the new model ultra-thin LCD, showcased by Hitachi.

The LCD is just 1.5 inch thick and comes in three sizes: 32”, 37” and 47”. The Hewlett Packard pavilion presents a variety of latest laptops and desktops.

Blast of a sound

The highlight at the HP stall is the ‘Mini’. It is a 9” laptop that weighs less than 2 kg.

People can expect a ‘blast of a sound’ at the Philips stall. The company’s latest sound system, Ambisound Cineos Soundbar DVD Home Theatre, delivers a stunning 5.1 surround sound. The stall also exhibits a 42” LCD that is fitted with 28.9- billion- colour technology. The ‘economy range’ sound systems can be seen at the stall held by Ricardo. The company has displayed a wide range of home theatre sound systems and DVDs. The event is co-sponsored by HP, Compaq, Sun DTH Services, Agrigold and Jayaraj International Private Limited
