GADAG: “Gadag Zilladalita Bhavan” on the outskirts of Gadag will be inaugurated by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Saturday. The building with a built up area of 2,01,000 sq. ft. has three blocks. It will house 48 offices of various government departments. While the eastern block will house 21 offices of the zilla panchayat, the central block has an auditorium that can accommodate 500 people. The western block will house 21 offices, including that of the Deputy Commissioner. The district treasury office and a branch of the State Bank of India will be located on the left side of the ground floor of the building. Apart from the court hall of the district magistrate and the zilla panchayat ‘sabhabhavana’, the building has four halls for conducting meetings of various departments. The building has videoconference facility. There are rooms for the offices of the district-in-charge Minister and the MP in the building. Two helipads have been constructed behind the bhavan and next to the compound are the quarters for Deputy Commissioner, zilla panchayat’s CEO, and Superintendent of Police. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
