Vinay moves up

HYDERABAD: V. Vinay scored a 11-3, 11-2, 11-5 win over G. S. Rahul in the cadet boys second round of the 8th Anantha Narayana Reddy & Rameshwaramma memorial State-ranking table tennis tournament at Anandnagar Welfare Association Sports Academy here on Friday.

Guntur enters final

Guntur boys entered the final with a 14-11 win over Hyderabad in the School Games Federation under-19 handball tournament being held in Tenali.

The results: Semifinals: Boys: Guntur bt Hyderabad 14-11; Warangal bt Krishna 26-13. Girls: Hyderabad bt Adilabad 18-9; Guntur bt Khammam 12-4.

Inter-district aquatics

The AP senior inter district aquatic championships and selection trials for men and women will be held at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Swimming Pool, Secunderabad on October 11. The state team for the senior National aquatics championships will be picked at the meet.

Competitions will be held in the following events: freestyle 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1500 metres, back stroke 50, 100 and 200 m, breast stroke 50, 100 and 200 m, butterfly 50, 100 and 200 m, individual medley 200 and 400 m, 1 and 3 metre spring board diving and water polo (only for men). Entries for the state meet close on October 5.
