VISAKHAPATNAM: Peethadhipati of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, will arrive in city for a two-day visit on October 9. Announcing this at a media conference here on Friday, president of Sri Sankara Matham in the city Lanka Jagannatham said the Sankaracharya would arrive in the city by a special flight on Thursday morning and would proceed to Bheemunipatnam to visit the Ashram of Sadguru Sri Sivananda Murthy. From there, he would go to Srikakulam and return to Bheemunipatnam. “His holiness will arrive here for performing the Mahakubhabhishekam at Sri Sankaramatham in Dwarakanagar on Oct. 10 morning. A music concert will be organised in the evening after which he will deliver his Anugrahabhashanam,” Mr. Jagannatham said, adding that the seer would leave by the special flight on Oct. 11 morning. Secretary of the Matham, Susarla Suryanarayana Murthy said that the Mahakumbhabhishekam would be performed to the idols of Umasahita Chandramouleeswara Swami and other idols at the premises. Water from holy rivers like Ganga, Godavari and Krishna and sea would be collected on Oct. 8 and 9 and preserved in 144 pots along with herbs and puja would be performed. Rituals like Ganapathi puja and Gopuja in the morning, and Vaastu, Navagraha, Kshetrapalaka Sarvathobhadramantapaaraa- dhana in the evening would be held at the Matham on both the days preceding the kumbhabhishekam, he added. Mr. Murthy said that the Sankaracharya would be installing Mahalakshmi idol at the Ashram of Sri Sivananda Murthy in Bheemunipatnam. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
