Coimbatore in last four

Tirupur: Coimbatore and Tirunelveli brushed aside the challenges of their opponents and entered the semifinals in the boys’ section of the State sub-junior volleyball championship at the Angel College of Engineering and Technology courts, here on Friday.

Coimbatore scored a hard-fought 25-17, 25-15, 20-25, 25-22 win over Dharmapuri.

Meanwhile, Tirunelveli pulled off a surprise 25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 23-25, 15-11 win over title-contender Chennai.

In another exciting girls’ contest, Nagapattinam bounced back to defeat Perambalur 18-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-19, 15-6.
