Bijapur: Members of the district unit of the Karnataka State Pre-university College Employees’ Association staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Saturday demanding the fulfilment of their demands. They demanded that the Government Order that makes a B.Ed. degree mandatory for people aspiring to be a lecturer in a pre-university college be withdrawn. Other demandsThey also demanded that the deputation allowance of lectures be increased from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1,000 and that the same facility be extended to aided pre-university college staff. They also demanded that the discrepancies in implementing the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission be corrected and financial restrictions to fill librarian and non-teaching staff member posts be removed.
