NEW DELHI: The three-day Gandhi Jayanti Mela, in which 50 non-government and Gandhian organisations and 20 organisations belonging to the Union and State governments and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi had put up their pavilions, concluded here over the weekend. Member of Parliament Venkaiah Naidu and Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan gave away prizes to the winners of the pavilion competition. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Naidu stressed the need for revival of Gandhian values and expressed concern at the increasing violence in society. In the category of Government and MCD Departments, the Education Department won the first prize. The second prize was bagged by the Horticulture Department and the third prize went to the pavilion of Panchkarma system of treatment and meditation for depicting nature cure for chronic illnesses and modern lifestyle. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
