Leon Khan hits unbeaten century

Bangalore: Leon Khan’s unbeaten 104 helped Bangalore City XI score 198 for two against Combined Moffusil XI before rains curtailed play in a KSCA inter-zonal under-19 tournament match that commenced here on Sunday.

The scores: Bangalore City XI 198 for two in 68.2 overs (Leon Khan 104 n.o., Hemanth Kumar 45) vs Combined Moffusil XI.

President’s XI 238 for five in 52.4 overs (Karun Nair 115, Suraj Sampath 61) vs Bangalore Zone XI.

Moffusil XI 169 for three in 59 overs (Praful Patel 71) vs Combined City XI.

V.R. Vanitha will lead Karnataka in the inter-State under-19 limited-overs women’s cricket tournament in Andhra Pradesh from October 10 to 16.

Army Red defeated Namdhari 3-0 in a State super division hockey league second phase match at the SAI Southern Centre here on Sunday. Armugam (32nd min.), Chittaranjan (40th min.) and I. Tirkey (60th min.) scored for the victor.

The State handball championship for men and women will be held at Sagar near Shimoga from October 17 to 19. The tournament will also aid the selection of the State squad for the National handball championship at Vijayawada during November. Chitra Magimairaj won the State-ranking ladies snooker championship at the KSBA Hall here on Saturday.

In the final, Chitra defeated Umadevi 58-16, 25-64, 69-76, 63-35, 71-7.
