27th India Knit Fair

Tirupur: The 27th India Knit Fair jointly organized by Apparel Export Promotion Council, India Knit Fair Association and Tirupur Exporters Association, will be held here from October 15 to 17.

A Sakthivel, chairman of IKFA and president of TEA, said that the fair, to be featured on the theme ‘Autumn/winter/mid-summer collections-2009’, will showcase a wide range of product lines for men, women and kids.

It include T-shirts, shorts, under garments, night wear, jogging suits, swim wears, track suits and ensembles.

A total of 150 buying agents and buyers were expected to attend the fair. Mr Sakthivel said that an extensive publicity campaign had been carried out in the export and domestic markets to disseminate information on the fair to buyers. ‘This will help the manufacturers setting up stalls in the expo to fetch good business for their value-added products in niche market segments,’ he added. An exporters’ meet was planned on the inaugural day, to explore the possibilities available in some of the relatively untapped sectors like technical textiles. He expressed the hope that the fair would act as a catalyst to boost the textile exports from the region.
